The Gap Year usually follows secondary school year 12 graduation or is a break in the first few years of University. The challenge this presents is that you have to look for relatively low-skilled jobs in industries that are not looking for long-term employees as a criterion for employment. A paid gap year is possible.
Try a Gap Year position in the agriculture business sector. While much work on farms, vineyards, and with livestock is seasonal, there are also longer-term options available in retail and various support and customer service positions for unskilled labour.
Young people between the ages of 18 and 24 who have completed year 12 can apply to join. You will not need an ATAR to apply for the gap year.
