Dana Street Primary School

The school is Ballarat’s oldest Victorian Government primary school and was established in 1857. It has played and continues to play a significant role in the education community of Ballarat.

The core purpose of the school is to provide a comprehensive education for all students through effective communication, strong teamwork and the application of a range of teaching and learning strategies within a climate of fun and enjoyment that enables students to reach their academic, social, emotional and physical potential.

We believe that education is a process of growth underpinned by the following community values: respect, care, responsibility, inclusion, tolerance, understanding, and excellence.

In 2017 the school is organized into 11 learning groups supported by specialist visual and performing arts, eLearning, personal development, LOTE ( Japanese ), health and physical education and sports programs. This provides a comprehensive and engaging teaching and learning program for all students.

Students are also supported through student wellbeing programs and strategies which are aimed at developing responsibility, resilience and social, emotional and physical potential.
