Wanpa-rda Matilda Outback Education Centre

A unique joint project of Education Queensland and the Australian Workers Heritage Centre, the Wanpa-rda Matilda Centre has been specifically designed to accommodate the needs of visiting school children and their carers. The centre houses 56 beds in dormitory style accommodation, fully equipped kitchen and dining facilities and an outdoor recreation and BBQ facility.

Our services and facilities include:
Modern air-conditioned accommodation and catering facilities.
Fully air-conditioned coach service, available to transport students from the site to all attractions.
Access to Australian Workers Heritage Centre grounds, featuring picnic and BBQ facilities on the banks of the bore-fed billabong.
An on-site Education Officer providing full planning support, including all bookings, catering and local tours.
A fully kitted camping trailer allows for up to 50 students to go bush overnight.
Curriculum packages designed to maximise and enhance your students ‘outback experience’.
