Sir Eric Woodward Memorial School is located on the fringe of the Ku-ring-gai National Park in St. Ives. The school sets out to optimise learning opportunities for students with severe disabilities and while communication programmes are the cornerstone of the curriculum, conductive education and music therapy are key elements in the development of all individualised learning programmes which are geared to provide maximum independence. The school community believe that children with disabilities should have as many opportunities as possible to socialise with students in mainstream schools and the wider community. The school works diligently to achieve this end for children for very high support needs. The school draws students from the lower north shore, the beaches area and as far away as Cowan in the north. The students range in age from preschool to senior high school with special transport provided by the Department of Education and Training.
