The Galilee School

Communities@Work’s Galilee School is an independent accredited school which provides an alternative education program for disadvantaged and at-risk young people aged 12 to 16 years in the Canberra region. It is a special place because it caters for the needs of students who do not fit the mainstream schooling system. The students attending are likely to have a history of truancy, drug and alcohol issues, or behavioural difficulties and may have involvement with the youth justice system.
The Galilee School is committed to equipping students with experiences that enhance their resilience, utilise their unique skills, and enable them to become well-rounded young adults once they leave school. Because all Galilee School students come from disadvantaged backgrounds, many have never had opportunities to travel, participate in extracurricular activities or pursue a skill that they are truly passionate about.
