Maxwell Creative School

SoCE is a creative and democratic learning community in the Yarra Valley, founded by Jane Macdonald. We offer the Maxwell Creative primary School, Farm Preschool and The Tribe for primary-aged children.SoCE is creating a holistic creative school from prep – year 12, called the Maxwell Creative School.

A creative school integrates:

a curriculum (we’ve chosen the Australian Curriculum), with
inquiry-based learning (eg, hands-on projects, innovation, design, collaborations, presentation and studio work), with
democratic learning (eg, choices, self-directed, self-organised, co-governed, co-developed).
Creative Education is a union of:

learning through the creative process
democracy… everyone governs and designs our school
individual education programs structured by the Australian curriculum
multi-age classes
self-directed learning including self-organisation
inquiry-based learning (hands-on projects, innovation, design, collaborations, presentation and studio work)
animal therapy
student-lead social and ecological enterprises
union of high-tech, high-eco environments, and
local, national, and international community engagement.
