Sunning Hill School

Sunning Hill Education and Training Centre (ETC) is a behaviour school located in Lidcombe within the South Western Sydney Region. Th school caters specifically for the needs of young female students from areas throughout New South Wales. In order to accommodate the educational needs of all students Sunning Hill ETC has an educational program for induction and high needs young woman as well as for those who are meeting their case-plan objectives. Each student enrolled in the school has a Personalised Learning Plan developed by the teaching team, based on initial and ongoing assessment. Teaching and support staff work enthusiastically as a team, committed to delivering programs and supporting students in achieving personal best performance, outcomes and rewards. Sunning Hill ETC aims to provide a variety of educational and training programs that target the individual needs of all students, providing opportunities for students to achieve outcomes both academically and socially. Our programs are anchored by numeracy and literacy, with a focus on bridging the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous students and include such vocational programs as ‘Aboriginal Identity’, ‘Cafe and ‘Hairdressing’. Sunning Hill maintains a close and rewarding ‘relationship with TAFE which provides a number of interesting, exciting programs including ‘Floristry’ and ‘Kitchen Operations’. Many of our students are able to complete their Year 10 accreditation and H.S.C. studies in this structured, supportive environment. School staff liaise closely with the school community to provide a vibrant and responsive educational program that assists our students to establish meaningful pathways to enhance their capacity to contribute positively to society.
