Individual lessons are suitable for students of all ages and levels. Posture and technique are a crucial part of playing an instrument and form the fundamental basics of playing.
All students will learn how to read music and apply this skill throughout their music learning.
Proper preparation for performances and assessments will also form part of the structure of this course. Madeline Procopio is the director of Professional Music Academy of SA. She is a concert violinist and regularly performs around the country. She holds a Masters in Music Studies (University of Sydney), and is currently furthering her study and commenced a PHD in 2016. Madeline is also an examiner for the Australian Music Examinations Board, teriary tutor for the Elder Conservatorium of Music and a casual violinist for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Heather studied with Kurt Hess (pupil of Janos Starker) at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, Adelaide University. In 1985 she was the recipient of the St Anns Collegians Prize for academic excellence and graduated the following year with First Class Honours. She also worked as a freelance player with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra from 1984-86, in other freelance orchestras and ensembles and with the Australian Dance Theatre. Manuel Cabrera II obtained his Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance from the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music in Manila, Philippines under the guidance of Prof. Ruben Reyes. He later studied with acclaimed Japanese guitarist Norio Sato and received his Master of Music Degree in Guitar under a scholarship at the Elisabeth University of Music in Hiroshima, Japan.Levi Kalmar
Born in Adelaide, Levi started piano lessons at age 7 and studied through the Suzuki method. She achieved a music scholarship at Marryatville High School and continued her studies at the Adelaide Conservatorium. Levi completed her Bachelor of Music Education in 2012. Since then she has attended various professional development opportunities such as the Australasian Piano Pedagogy Conference to keep updated with the latest educational benefits. She is currently furthering her study in the Taubman Approach, which originated in America, helping piano students develop a better awareness of the connection of fingers, hand and arm and overall balance to help improve their playing. Since completing her degree, Levi has also been teaching piano at various primary and high schools and has coached many students sucessfully through AMEB exams, both in practical and theory examinations.
